@BriBear@blahaj.zone @soph@grrl.me I had to think before replying. For me, it is less cult and more horror.
I grew up immersed in the cultures around the world, then went to college at a school that had mostly international students. In college, I learned Spanish and French and I prepared to leave.
Then, I met the love of my life and plans derailed and I ended up moving to another part of the U.S. since then, this place has been devastating to me, but until now, I did not have a clear stable path to an exit.

@scarlet@plush.city @soph@grrl.me that's understandable. For me it's really hard because I bought it all hook line and sinker when I was young. I still believe in those "American" values. I just realise those values are in no way reflected by the American culture. It was all a smokescreen.
