And for the rust rewrite thing it is kinda the same, we didn't take the previous lessons learned into account and just produced something that looked great - at first...
in which way do you mean? Which lessons should it have incorporated that it didn't?

@laund@wetdry.world @tragivictoria@mastodon.catgirl.cloud Have you missed all of the talks about race conditions for file handling and the recent security vulnerabilities because of that? Like the coreutils had a lot of hard learned lessons in that regard and - well - the developers of the rust version are currently re-learning the same lessons. To be fair they probably were poorly to not at all documented. But I also doubt anyone would have read it if it existed...
