@doctormo@floss.social @jvschrag@hachyderm.io I found the heat pump disconcertingly quiet compared with the dull roar of the old combi boiler. For the first few weeks I hallucinated that old rumble but now I’m used to the sound of silence. The house creaks less now too since it’s not forever expanding and contracting. It’s just better.

There's the roar of the gas burning the water, yes. But there's the *hiiiiisssssss* as the steam comes out of valves in each and every one of the massive wrought iron radiators. And the clack, clonk, thumb thum, clunck of the pipes that are so old the boiler needs to be drained of the rust and dust gathering in the water system Sonic horror
