That’s how much time the (anonymous) group had to come up with a proposal that could work and they neglected to do that. Instead they wasted a huge amount of time and energy for a political total loss.

With the referendum as an excuse Berlin’s far right parties found common cause and were able to push political placards everywhere for weeks (normally not allowed). With the continued rollback of cycling infrastructure, the political positioning here could become a flashpoint but it’s hard to see.
