@atpfm@mastodon.social I’m genuinely curious: what is it about Hacker News that puts @siracusa@mastodon.social and @caseyliss@mastodon.social off? I always find it like, the only place on the internet aside from _maybe_ mastodon where people are able to intelligently discuss tech topics without resorting to flame wars and tribalism (the exchange you read out in the episode is a good example).
Is there something I’m not seeing? Some experience I haven’t had?

@niekvdpas@hachyderm.io Everyone is cranky, always. And/or is always pitching alternative solutions that are 850× harder to satisfy some craving/requirement that only they have.

@niekvdpas@hachyderm.io There are often interesting comments there, but the prevailing attitude is one that I have grown tired of in my old age. It’s a lot of commenters explaining how they know more/better about whatever was posted, and then usually quickly spiraling off into predictable, petty squabbles tangentially related to the topic.
