Surely this depends on the CPU?
On a Thinkpad T430s with a Intel Core i5-3320M, i.e. 2 cores with 2 threads each at 3.3GHz max., ksyslogger ran at 3-5% CPU. This was in a live environment which I shut down after tweaking it for about 30mins, so IDK, maybe it would’ve settled down evtl.?

You mean ksystemstats? You can theoretically disable it completely. Plasma depends on ksysguard but you can probably just run plasma-shell without it. Never tried. There have been comparisons between “lightweight” DEs and Plasma where Plasma didn’t consume more resources than say Xfce.
