It's the weirdest thing, how often you get these "whistleblowers" running around going "Robot lawnmowers are not a good minder for small dogs" with no sense of how many more turns on the helter-skelter they've taken than the average person. "You won't believe this story." It's got AI in it, and you seem to have hurt yourself, so I already do. Latest example, complete with numerous fuckups on the author's part: https://x.com/lifeof_jer/status/2048103471019434248 These are the people telling you to get on board.

@davey_cakes@mastodon.ie I cannot fathom how ostensibly intelligent people can’t grasp the simple fact that AI moves you from a model of “issue precise instructions to a computer which will execute them deterministically” to “write down what you want the computer to do in an imprecise language and hope to fuck that the layer you’ve put between you and your computer interprets that the way you meant it”. You are literally reduced to pleading with it to not fuck things up, with no guarantees
