But then everywhere we went, people wanted to talk to us. Often they spoke English; if they couldn't speak English, they found someone to translate. And what they said was always a variation on a theme: My cousin lives in Los Angeles. My brother lives in Colorado. My daughter is a doctor in Toronto. We have no clue about Iran, but Iranians are very familiar with us, in a sense of the word that highlights the root 'family'. (I've tried to choose photos that don't show faces clearly) 5 of 7

    We started in Tehran, then visited Yazd, Shiraz, and Isfahan. We saw the archeological sites at Pasargadae and Persepolis. It was all amazing, beautiful, stunning. 6 of 7
