@jens@social.finkhaeuser.de And such people are great for kick-starting movements. The infamous sex pest Richard Stallman seems to share that impossibility to temper his statements and actions as well.
But there comes a point where this is counter-productive and causes damage to movements in the long run. There has to be a way of moving these "social entrepreneurs" (to coin a term) out to pasture or toward other issues where their inflexibility is an asset, not a detriment.

@ZDL@mstdn.social Yes, and no. So first, I find that comparison fascinating on so many levels I can't get into. TL;DR it's more valid than is comfortable, which is a good thing! There's a difference that I see: Stallman's inflexibility has been the butt of jokes for a while, and he sort of joked along with it (in ways not everyone will get). The problem isn't so much this inflexibility. If you look how the more palatable open source movement has flourished vs. Stallman's free software thing, and then...
