@Printdevil@dice.camp Even the Hindenburg isn't that big from a play perspective. Other than the 50' of 2-deck passenger space it's pretty much a single long corridor with periodic rooms for cargo, machinery or crew quarters.

This is probably a veiled "Great Dalmuti" reference.

I'm adding this because the other book cut off the crew toilet facilities which is just uncivil.

Cutaway of the Gondola, which gives a bit of perspective

@Spider I'll dig out the photos to show the crew sleeping, but it's basically only slightly better than being hung out the side in a net.

@Spider This is a great book and not very expensive, but this it the full loan copy from the internet archive, quite a dense read. https://archive.org/details/goldenageofgreat0000dick_h7s4/page/184/mode/2up

@Spider That's why I suggested that book, because it's actually deep on the detail of the crew and their timetable and duties. Most books are about the mechanical structure of the airships. That also has a nice glossary of the terminology which is pretty good Zepp 101 primer. I've the Graf crew handbook somewhere which Is shall dig out. There's a book Food on the Move which has details of the sandwiches.

@Spider That's your key paragraph for a TL:DR move :)

@Spider Just skip to chapter 7. It's the crew complement and their timetable/roster stuff.

@Spider illustration of the crew basically sleeping in the skin of the ship, on the gondola access corridor. brrr

@Spider Very very cold and noisy, at least from biographies I've read. It's one of the reasons they loved smoking pipes apparently.. 🤯

@Printdevil would seem to be a very civilised way of travelling a long distance with minimal fossil fuels

@Printdevil Lovely that they drawn the maps opened in the navigation room!

@Printdevil I refuse to translate because the idea of a "funk cabin" is too cool
