I've got Steller's in the back yard and California Scrub Jays in the front yard and they mostly keep clear of each other. The Steller's mostly ignore me, though they seem to understand I'm not a threat. The scrub jays have figured out I'll share snacks on occasion, so they're super friendly.

@TheGreatLlama@kolektiva.social The CA Scrubs don't commonly range up to SW SnohoCo where I am. Pierce Co and south King Co seems to be as far north as they get in the Puget Lowland. This photo shows both birds in lower Icehouse Cyn-San Gabriel Mtns soCal at an elevation of 5000 ft. That's right about where chaparral favored by Scrubs transitions up into coniferous forest favored by Steller's. I was down there May 2022 on a work trip, goofing off with a hike in the mountains.
