@mcfly@milliways.social Definitely do not want a modern car, irrespective of driveline because of data collection issues. I'm using a PinePhone as I do not like the data collection issues, walled gardens and other issues such as data sovereignty associated with Apple or Google's offerings so why on earth would I want a car with CarPlay or Android Auto in it? Or the car manufacturers own version of such things? Or closed source engine and brake management systems? Or always on internet access?

@mcfly@milliways.social Also, I usually gets cars when they are at least 5 to 8 years old and take them to third party mechanics, so I don't have a warranty and I don't get software updates from the dealer and from a software point of view my car is basically unsupported at that point anyway. How much functionality are they going to change anyway? They probably aren't going to keep improving anything important over a decade, unless they can charge me for it like drift mode or something.
