@caseyliss@mastodon.social @siracusa@mastodon.social back in the days possibly before AOL, I think it was via Compuserve Navigator or Usenet, someone suggested I learn Perl. It could have been as recent as 1999. I had found the Oreilly Regex OWL book, loved it was using BBEdit a lot for text cleaning and thought sure, why not? Seems some overlap, AFAIK. I always think the Perl recommendation came from @siracusa@mastodon.social, everytime Perl is mentioned on one of his podcasts.
