#ZXSpectrum experts; what was this provisional port for? Composite? This is my 16k issue 2 model.

@electron_greg@oldbytes.space That is a long time ago. I wouldn’t know!

@electron_greg@oldbytes.space If I remember, I'll have a peek at my 48k later on. Might be populated on that one, but I can't remember exactly.

@electron_greg@oldbytes.space This is old RF UHF aerial conector. You need an old TV to connect it to the antenna conector.

  • @electron_greg@oldbytes.space My best guess would be an additional video port, maybe composite. The question is: Future expansion? Or regional option, like NTSC composite?

@electron_greg@oldbytes.space maybe just a different tv adaptor, same functionality but alternate layout, eg, change of component supplier over the life of the product.

@electron_greg@oldbytes.space There's an Aztek modulator behind there giving the PAL RF signal. The modulator for other markets can have the socket on the other side though. So potentially the case could be made with that cutout instead. Although I am not aware of any that were.

@electron_greg@oldbytes.space is there any chance you could safely take apart the shell and look at the motherboard? Seeing how it connects to the board would make it so I can probably figure out what the connector would exactly be doing, or even better, see the actual ID for the connector.
