Less than 2 months to go until the #RC2014Assembly 2.0 Last year was the first meetup specifically for owners of #RC2014 or similar kits, and it was a fantastic day out. The national Museum Of Computing is a wonderful venue too, and the RC2014 Assembly ticket gets you full access to the museum too. So if you can get to Bletchley, UK on September 26th, it would be great to see you there. https://rc2014.co.uk/4329/rc2014-assembly-v2-0/

Tomorrow will be exactly 10 years since I sent out the first #RC2014 Newsletter. That went out to 130 people, but the list has grown to well over 10 times that now. Mailchimp lets you go back and read previous issues, but this is capped to the most recent 20 - which only gets you back to Issue 48 So I've set up an archive on the RC2014 website that goes right back to Issue 1. If you want to see what things looked like in the olden days, check it out https://rc2014.co.uk/history/rc2014-news...

Are there any #Go players going to #EMFCamp on here? (I mean the Chinese board game Go with the black and white stones) If so, I'd love to meet up for a game or two at some point at the camp. I'm pretty much a newbie that's educated from YouTube videos and computer opponents so virtually beginner status. Not looking for a tutorial, but I'd love some feedback or commentary on the game.

Do I know anybody that has shipped their own parts to JLCPCB for use in PCBA? (https://jlcpcb.com/help/article/how-to-consign-parts-to-jlcpcb) In particular getting the paperwork right. It needs an invoice for the parts but I'm not actually selling them to JLC, they are my parts which they will be sending back when they have soldered them. It's all a bit confusing and getting parts *in* to China isn't something I've done before.

If you think that the AI companies buying all the RAM production is only hitting DDR5 prices, think again. The 32k DIP chips I use in most of my kits (AS6C62256) were just ยฃ2.25 a couple of years ago. (And less than a quid a short while before then). Mouser are one of the cheaper places at the moment and they're ยฃ7.69+VAT singly, or still well over six quid in bulk. https://www.mouser.co.uk/ProductDetail/Alliance-Memory/AS6C62256-55PCN?qs=LD2UibpCYJqgbIupMJnGTQ%3D%3D I am going to ha...

It's always nice to wake up and find somebody has made a video about one of my #RC2014 boards. This is the RomWriter I made for upgrading #RomWBW a little while ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JI26CeVOH-g

Honestly, Royal Mail seem to just be trying harder and harder to make things more difficult for business customers. I wish I had viable alternatives.

Workshop proposal for #EMFCamp submitted. The "Build a Z80 Computer" workshops have always been a lot of fun to run, and have always sold out. Looking forward to doing it all over again this year. #RC2014 #Z80

I am very tempted to cancel my Royal Mail account and use the savings from that to buy a boat. Then I can travel around the world delivering all the RC2014 orders personally. Delivery times might go up, but at least I won't have to deal with the bullshit from Royal Mail any longer.
