The only reason my video samples from this thing didn't look as nasty is that I was putting this through a low-pass filter that mostly smoothed it all out. It's also much less noticeable on signals coming from a video tape in the first place.

Also, I have to rant about trying to learn anything at all about DSP again. You google something, and you get endless theory and formulas. No mention of practical implementations AT ALL. You do get some graphs if you're lucky. Takes at least an hour to find at least one explanation written in normal human language.
