1/9🧵
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to try to survive day-to-day in Gaza now, under the current “ceasefire”? @Mohamadsohiel had a long chat with me over WhatsApp this week sharing some information about electricity, internet access, and more. My husband, who is a doctor that spent last month working in Gaza with @emergency confirmed that his patients gave similar accounts. Details downthread.

@Mohamadsohiel@mastodon.social 2/9🧵 Electricity-1 The only way people can access electricity is by purchasing it by the kiloWatt-hour (kWh) from folks running diesel generators. The current price in Gaza is $10 per kWh. To put that in perspective, Californians pay $0.20-$0.34per kWh, and Germans pay about €0.40 per kWh of electricity. It’s a struggle and hardship to just charge a phone in Gaza. https://chuffed.org/project/176848-support-mohamad #Gaza #Palestine #Genocide #MutualAid #HelpGaza #GazaVerified
