I've heard so many stories from the "Great migration of 2022" that people were literally chased off of the Fediverse for these very reasons. I get it, CWs and ALT text are very helpful and I sincerely hope people do use them. But if they don't, then don't follow them. It's really that simple. Anything else has proven to be a net negative.

@scottjenson@social.coop I’ve always been curious if other people could easily suggest alt or cw that you could accept easily through UI. But maybe that’d be abused somehow.

@scottjenson@social.coop some people are excessive with content warnings, I agree. I think this varies by instance. but alt text is necessary for blind users, it's one of main reasons I like it here. when good alt text isn't a standard, blind people are "chased off."
