Is it just me, or are the EU USB C charging rules not quite as great as claimed because:
1) People replace phone cables all the time & this is true regardless of if the cables are USB C or not,
2) By the time the rules were introduced, most people were using USB A or C chargers for phone anyway, so it didn't save on this type of waste,
3) USB C cables come in at least 12 different types, which are indistinguishable to most humans,
4) Now USB C charging is common on laptops, 2 and 3 may bite.

@dwmalone@mastodon.ie 3 is a disaster in my house. They need to mandate cable capability marking too.

@dwmalone@mastodon.ie it would be amusing if the eu applies clear product labelling regulations to usb cables :-)
