Long lenses compress perspective and make things that are far apart seem close together. I feel today is a good day to repeat the mantra “the camera always lies”. People’s media literacy is abysmal, even for the stuff that’s been around for ever. #photography

@lauren@mastodon.laurenweinstein.org you have to be nuts to do the things required to get that money, as a rule.

Are people aware that you don’t have to use Google for search? Haven’t had to for ages? If they’ve destroyed their product, use another.

@erikcats @kalos @warhammercommunity I think I’m too old (and too comfortable maybe) to be bothered by GW, especially on what are elite showpiece models. Building and customising is the best part of the build/paint side of hobby. Though the Emperor’s Children box was a little much. You don’t like the style, go build something else. Jeez. (And if you’re just meta optimising I don’t care about you anyway.)

The @mindnode app has long been my favorite mind mapping tool but I fell out of using it because it was a closed garden for a long time. The recent (to me, anyway!) shortcuts and deep linking make it much easier to integrate into workflows with other tools like #obsidian.

Ah shit, I thought being interested in some new #firefly was the cool position, turns out it’s essays on what a disaster it’s going to be. This is why I can never get my engagement numbers up. 🙄

RE: https://mastodonapp.uk/@brainsmatter/116240858884397428 I don’t think anything is going to make the quantum world intuitive to minds evolved to deal with a world on a scale many orders of magnitude greater and you’re wasting time making up stories about it.

@ReggieHere@mastodon.social @ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us @riggbeck@mastodon.social I maintain that Thatcher used the proceeds of EU membership and North Sea oil to mask that she was starting to concentrate money and power back into the hands of the rich. The start of the counter revolution. Most of her successors don’t understand that at all: they believe it was her announced principles wot did it.
