@Greg@social.coop being a decade+ late is good for your goal of getting something beginner friendly :) I have an older Prusa that I bought preassembled new, and I was very impressed with how little fiddling it needed to work for a while. It needs fiddling to work now, but that's because I did some ambitious mods to it that didn't quite work out. I've been eyeing up their new "Prusa CORE One" since it looks a lot more resilient and easier to service.

    @Greg@social.coop the plastic filament based printers all have an inherent degree of Whimsy that eventually turns them into Projects though. I don't know of any exceptions to this rule yet, but the technology has improved enough that the time-to-project has gotten a lot longer over the years. I have no idea if the resin printers are better for reliability. I imagine they ought to be because there's fewer moving parts, but I've never owned one so idk.
