I feel sick. The College I work at is considering joining Colleges and Institutes Canada new College Defence Training and Innovation Network to benefit from the Carney Government&#39;s Defence Industrial Strategy. In short, they want to open our College, the home of the Mir Centre for Peace, to military research and development contracts as well as training agreements. I want no part of this and have asked my union to oppose our joining. I hope more voices join me to say NO!✌️ #Peace #Canada

Well the union meeting did not go so well. More voices in favour or undecided than I would have hoped. I'm glad I recruited a colleague in advance, I had one ally.😔 Our Union Secretary asked me for links to share and we may have a motion to vote with advance notice at a later date so that the whole membership can be notified ahead. I am angry as I feel this "consultation" was deliberately done when classes are over for the summer, I know many students would protest loudly if they knew.

@TheresaReason@socialbc.ca That sounds awful! I’m not very familiar with politics internal to Canada, but the forces of “power over” seem out of control worldwide at the moment.
