@carbonated_estrogen@transfem.social to add a little bit more to my previous response, by illusion i meant that what we perceive as being real or physical reality is actually only an experience that exists within our consciousness, it doesn't have to correspond to anything outside of our own mind. so, no one can prove that the objective physical reality you are referring to exists. the fact that most of our experience is coherent doesn't mean anything by itself. it can also be incoherent like when we dream or when we do psychedelics or other psychoactive drugs. and where do the standards we use to judge if something is coherent or not come from? they are created by the exact same experience you then say is actually consistent, it's a self-reinforcing system. and again, anything that you perceive cannot be used to argue in favor of there being something beyond your perception.

  • @alreadydeadxd@infosec.exchange i would argue things being coincidental beyond ourselves is the test of reality because if you can't have a coherent circumstance/situation/event or bit of information externally, there is basically no reality to interact with in a meaningful way, and of course meaning is subjective, but in this i mean being able to project outward an intentional energy and have it coincide externally with expectations. if there was not a measurable objectiveness to reality, what would reality even be?
