@Gorfram@beige.party Ah, proofreader here. I'm afraid you're bumping into an issue I deal with a lot. It's really two issues lumped together: A: People can be incredibly ignorant B: people also don't care about getting details right. See apostrophes, commas, all fucking punctuation in fact, what's the bloody point of any of it, was I the only one paying attention in school, you CRETINS?

    @Dtraslerwriting@mastodon.social I guess the thing that’s really got my back up on this one is that I’m seeing it from so many putative journalists. I’ve come to expect errors like there/their/they’re, “all intensive purposes,” and “quotes” for “emphasis” from (the) hoi polloi, but I feel like people who’ve chosen a vocation requiring communication in the English language really ought to know better.
