@theadhocracy@indieweb.social how is it the wrong May Day when it's a different May Day? i am clearly not stating that something with roots BCE was invented in a city that didn't exist until 1700+ years later.

@dank@jorts.horse Maybe I'm misunderstanding then, or maybe I'm just out of the loop on European culture 😅 There's a lot of countries and I don't know how May Day is celebrated in all of them. But from my experience, those countries that celebrate May Day in Europe are celebrating the original version, not the US labour-movement one. So claiming its a "staple of European culture" feels weird, when it's a different thing. Or am I wide of the mark here?
