@ayke@blahaj.social @anya@shrimp.acute.cat I don’t think it would work all that well with books; but I’ve been liking the idea of a European produced movie or TV series, where the plot is as international as it can reasonably be and the canonical version is one where all communication happens in whatever language it would happen in real live in that setting, no matter how long the dialog, you just get subtitles. Yes, you sometimes have a handful of lines in a foreign language in movies or TV, but nothing ever really commits to it.

    @Fiona@blahaj.zone @anya@shrimp.acute.cat actually yes that would be interesting! Many people are already quite used to subtitles so might as well use them to maximum effect. (I'm one who likes subtitles even for English movies since dialogue is sometimes hard to understand)
