@Fiona@blahaj.zone @anya@shrimp.acute.cat actually yes that would be interesting! Many people are already quite used to subtitles so might as well use them to maximum effect.
(I'm one who likes subtitles even for English movies since dialogue is sometimes hard to understand)

@ayke@blahaj.social @anya@shrimp.acute.cat I usually don’t, but some directors have horrible ideas when it comes to sound mixing… As much as I hate most dubs, one advantage is that many German dubs at least seem to be mixed based on the assumption that people want to actually understand what is being said… then again, they often sound so horrible that you want to throw up regardless… The best sound-design is one where people sound like normal people in the real world, and that is the exception these days… 😞 (One of the many reasons for why I love Elfenlied so much: The German dub is actually amazing, in some ways better than the original.)
