@nobodyinperson@fosstodon.org Neat. Brave to use nixos live .... just kidding. I do not myself code in Python because the absence of brackets makes it a non-language for me. I do not want a PhD in VIM nano vscode or any other editor just to make a copy and paste work. I want it to works whatever the layout. I once sat down to start learning python and copied some code from elsewhere into the file... needless to say... absolute no-go... spaces all wrong. Since then, RUST or AIs seem to be able to cope though.

  • @adingbatponder@fosstodon.org Yeah the students use Windows, but I of course also need to be able to use the IDE that's established in the course 😅 Took my a tad longer that I'd have liked to get it running, but as usual with NixOS, I now have something reprodicible and who knows how often I might need just that. Python's strict indenting also trips me up and the lack of a canonical formatter doesn't make it better, Rust is much nicer in those regards, indeed. But not useful for interactive data analysis.
