Our library system has reciprocity agreements with the neighbouring counties, so that if you live in one you can get cards for the others. Today I was in the next county over and stopped at the library and got my THIRD library card!
The librarian was wearing a "dragons love books" shirt with a cute drawing of a dragon snoozing on a hoard of books. I complimented her on it :)

@emery@sunny.garden Nice! Does it cost anything? It costs me $50/yr for an account at a neighboring county. It's totally worth it though.

@emery@sunny.garden In the UK there is a national interlibrary loan system. If a library in the UK has a book or other published item in their stock, you can request it and eventually you'll receive it via your own library. Might take a few weeks to locate it and ship it too you though 🙂
