There is actually one semi-good thing about COBRA, which is that you can sign up for it up to six months after you lose your job, and it's retroactive. At one point, I left one place, and while I'd already gotten an offer elsewhere, I didn't start for two months, and I used this rule to save on the cost of insurance for those two months, knowing it'd be there if I needed it. But yeah, it still sucks.

@TheAuthorVivian@mastodon.world Matter of fact, my state is working to become the first to have a universal single-payer healthcare plan. I just went to a community outreach meeting about it on Saturday. https://www.hcao.org Assuming everything goes perfectly, we'll have it in 2032. Sigh. But I guess that's better than never.
