BTW, getting back to that commute, even though it was only 5-6 miles, it was absolutely hellish, because, even though it was a straight shot, it was along an arterial road (Springdale Road, if you are familiar with Cherry Hill, NJ), with absolutely ZERO accommodations for anything but motor vehicles.
It was this, all the way, but during rush hours. The worst kind of #stroad.

Oh, btw, take a look at that photo of the Nishiki Olympic Royale again. Notice how low to the ground the front fender goes. Try to find *that* on a bicycle nowadays! Now that's what I call "full coverage". Mine had that same gorgeous metallic maroon/root beer finish.
