Tthat's another thing about the bicycle industry—it mainly caters to (younger, able) men who treat cycling as a hobby or a competition. To the extent that the industry considers women, at all, it assumes that women in the modern day have the option to wear trousers, so the industry doesn't feel much like it needs to offer high quality bicycles designed to accommodate women's traditional dress. Most "women's" bicycles are bicycle-shaped garbage (and not built for 185 cm tall women).

BTW, getting back to that commute, even though it was only 5-6 miles, it was absolutely hellish, because, even though it was a straight shot, it was along an arterial road (Springdale Road, if you are familiar with Cherry Hill, NJ), with absolutely ZERO accommodations for anything but motor vehicles. It was this, all the way, but during rush hours. The worst kind of #stroad.
