Because of personal medical stuff, vacation, bereavement and general… life, I’ve been off work more than usual these past few months and I do not miss it at all. I have colleagues who say they miss work when they’re away for a while, but if I never had to return I’d be thrilled. It makes me wonder, is it this job or would I feel this way in any job?

@pseudonymsupreme@pnw.zone I feel that way as well. Or rather, I don't mind "coming and going on my schedule" to get things done. :)

@pseudonymsupreme@pnw.zone in my experience, it's any job, lol

  • @pseudonymsupreme@pnw.zone I always found that no matter how much I like my job, I like my private life more. I had colleagues who didn't understand that at all though... once I asked for part time and they were genuinely surprised as in, why would you want to work less? What would you do instead? And I didn't even know where to begin. Not working at all is different though. I'm fine with returning to work after vacation etc - if not, it's time to switch jobs.

  • @pseudonymsupreme@pnw.zone I really like my job. It’s interesting, useful, and well-paid. I like my co-workers. I am extremely lucky. That said, given the choice, I’d still rather stay home and sleep in and do whatever I feel like rather than go to work on any given day.

  • @pseudonymsupreme@pnw.zone Never missed it at all after I retired except for a few people, and I’ve kept in touch with several of those.
