@evelynefoerster@swiss.social I recently found a large tarantula in our garden. Not a hallucination. I immediately recognised it from encountering them in the SW USA. I rushed into the house to get protective clothing to catch it but when I returned it had gone. Almost certainly a no-longer-wanted or escaped pet shop purchase which will die when autumn comes and the summer heat stops and it becomes too lethargic to hunt.

@pacman@swiss.social Oh no, that’s awful! Poor thing—it’s probably terrified and completely out of its element here. Who just abandons an animal like that? It’s so irresponsible and cruel. I hope it finds somewhere safe, but honestly, people who dump pets like this should face consequences. It’s not just about the tarantula; it’s about the ecosystem and the suffering they cause. Ugh, it makes me so angry!
