@gilesgoat@toot.wales Another thing that absolutely should be available in your area are peanuts in the shell. They are low in sugar and starch, and most horses love them. Feed them shell and all. You might want to ask your vet first, just to be on the safe side. But I give them to my mini horse and my goats. I buy them in 5 pound (2.25 kg) bags at Sam's Club.

    @captpackrat@pawb.fun That's interesting - the peanuts thing - I'll try to ask the vet about those and monkey nuts ( I know they are not the same but ) ..

    @captpackrat@pawb.fun I asked in some 'horse supply place' where they are ( should ? ) be well aware of horse stuff .. when I mentioned "peanuts" they REALLY looked at me like if I asked for something from another planet ! Really I tried to explain she tells me "NEVER heard of this !" .. but she suggested us about some special treats with cinnamon in it, apparently cinnamon is good for regulating sugar levels.
