(5/x) Addition: Of course, Edward may also have been from another country like UK, AUS or NZ. I'm kind of US-biased here because my father-in-law often heard his mother's relatives saying "Edward the American". Also, Wiesbaden was a center of US activities after WWII, afaik.

    @azett@mastodon.online it looks like you have people already searching ancestry.com (I'm a subscriber and will look also) but here's a slightly invasive suggestion. Doing a DNA search. You could find people related online at ancestry that way - assuming they are in the database. More and more people are doing that. Many secrets coming out of the woodwork too! :)

    @azett@mastodon.online I think as others have pointed out Ancestry DNA will likely be a huge help. I don't know how useful it is for people with German ancestry, but the results of my own test (UK and Australian ancestry) have solved several secrets and mysteries that my grandparents and others took to their graves.
