(4/x) My father-in-law spent basically his whole life searching for his roots. (His early-childhood odyssee including being evacuated from war-struck Berlin as a two-weeks-old not even mentioned; this alone could, and propably will, fill a whole book). So now here I am, basically without any genealogy experience, trying to give an old man some kind of peace. All we have is this set of pictures with the name "Edward J. Garth" on it.

@azett@mastodon.online this birth date is perplexing: if he’s born in November, he was conceived in Feb 1944. D-Day (when US forces land in Europe) is June 1944. How sure are we this was his father as opposed to a man who later came into his mother’s life? Was he given up for adoption at birth or later?
