@pluralistic You've mentioned Oregon's recent bill that attempts to limit the corporate practice of medicine. Not sure if you've been following the debacle with PeaceHealth and Eugene Emergency Physicians but it seemed like the kind of think you'd be interested in. The hospital attempted to replace local physicians with a group from another state and the whole ordeal has been kind of crazy. They just reversed course though, in part I think thanks to the new law. https://lookouteugene-springfield.com/story/health/2026/05/06/peacehealth-to-renew-contract-to-eugene-emergency-physicians-reversing-earlier-decision/

  • @pluralistic@mamot.fr The whole story is a bit wild, involving the staff at the hospital voting overwhelmingly against hospital administrators with a vote of no confidence. https://lookouteugene-springfield.com/story/health/2026/02/24/hundreds-of-medical-staff-vote-no-confidence-in-riverbend-leadership/ One of those administrators was later put on administrative leave for allegedly making patient care decisions without the proper license in Oregon: https://lookouteugene-springfield.com/story/health/2026/04/09/top-peacehealth-riverbend-executive-put-on-administrative-leave/ Then it went to court thanks to the new law. Now it seems PeaceHealth has settled but there is still movement in the courts.
