Excellent article here. Hits the nail on the head I think. "But I don’t think most people are formulating a new worldview in which AI is a boogeyman political project hatched by billionaires. I think they’re more likely to understand AI as an extension of an already inequitable system, and as an accelerant of that inequality." https://www.bloodinthemachine.com/p/ai-as-the-new-avatar-of-american

@asie probably depends on why you are banning llm contributions. If it's because you can't keep up reviewing all the new code and you aren't reviewing upstream code anyway, then it wouldn't be related to the problem you are trying to solve in that case.

Was watching Good Will Hunting the other night. The first 30 seconds of this scene had me imagining Will Hunting as ChatGPT and Skylar just trying to actually learn something. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKu_QQVHJLA

@pluralistic Pizza hut forced this new pizza delivery software system on its franchises to improve efficiency. it allowed doordash drivers to see when pizzas would exit the oven so they could time deliveries better. Of course the drivers used this knowledge to wait for more pizzas so they could batch the deliveries and likely make more money with less driving. This resulted in slower deliveries of cold pizza and this franchise owner claims $100 million in damages https://www.businessinsider.com...

@pluralistic You've mentioned Oregon's recent bill that attempts to limit the corporate practice of medicine. Not sure if you've been following the debacle with PeaceHealth and Eugene Emergency Physicians but it seemed like the kind of think you'd be interested in. The hospital attempted to replace local physicians with a group from another state and the whole ordeal has been kind of crazy. They just reversed course though, in part I think thanks to the new law....

@index just found your blog and loved this post. https://blog.hydroponictrash.solar/cyberdecks-going-analog-and-convivial-technology/ Been wanting to build a cyberdeck for years but reading this has me thinking about them in a different way. Also fascinating the repeating cycle of automation VS labor. History doesn't repeat but it rhymes!
