@pluralistic@mamot.fr The whole story is a bit wild, involving the staff at the hospital voting overwhelmingly against hospital administrators with a vote of no confidence. https://lookouteugene-springfield.com/story/health/2026/02/24/hundreds-of-medical-staff-vote-no-confidence-in-riverbend-leadership/ One of those administrators was later put on administrative leave for allegedly making patient care decisions without the proper license in Oregon: https://lookouteugene-springfield.com/story/health/2026/04/09/top-peacehealth-riverbend-executive-put-on-administrative-leave/ Then it went to court thanks to the new law. Now it seems PeaceHealth has settled but there is still movement in the courts.

  • @pluralistic@mamot.fr One more interesting piece of this is that PeaceHealth settled 5 days into the court case, but the judge wants to see this through. "(Judge) Kasubhai pressed attorneys and witnesses on whether Lane Emergency Physicians is truly an independent physicians group or if it was operated by ApolloMD. He went on to describe the setup as a “shell game.” " “I am going to need to see this to the end,” he said. “I am involved whether anyone likes it or not.” https://lookouteugene-springfield.com/story/health/2026/05/06/peacehealth-er-case-shows-that-oregons-new-medical-law-has-teeth/
