New Google Sheets "Chip" feature lets you extract data about people. My takeaway: if you view a shared Google Sheet while logged into a Google Account, the doc owner (maybe others) can extract your location & phone. 1/n https://support.google.com/docs/answer/13524011#zippy=%2Cpeople-smart-chip #Google #GoogleSheets #Privacy #Security #Infosec

I haven't seen anyone talking about this, I just noticed it when I viewed a shared doc for work. (I can't move us away from Google Drive at work, I desperately want to, I've tried, I don't have the clout, don't yell at me.) My takeaways: - View shared Google Sheets in a private window when you must. - Move to alternatives if you can. - Let people know. But this is not my field. I hope infosec pros will weigh in. 2/n #Infosec

  • @ShaulaEvans@zirk.us It's your work account. Your example is a coworker who is stalking you? Work, and your coworkers, already know your phone number and location.
