Every politician at every level is into AI right now not because they believe it will ever turn a profit, or ever be worthy, or even useful, but only because there is a fortune in grift money to be made in building data centers and handing out contracts. There is a fortune to be made at the taxpayer expense. It&#39;s always always always about the money.

@PatrickoftheG@mastodon.social Money, influence, power, authority, votes, money, gas, oil, tech... You know there are some local politicians that do it because they want to help their communities, but there are far more of them at every level that want renown and to ride the gravy train: it attracts that sort of person. The last person that should be allowed to have any position of authority is someone that actually wants it, or worse, pursues it.
