Your best bet is to go straight to a tattoo artist with a concept or rough sketch, not finished work. Go to the shop in person. Do not email or text. It might be a waste of money/effort to commission a regular artist. Art for skin is different from art on paper. A good tattoo artist will want to take into account placement, etc.
(Plus, little bit of a faux pas to come to a skilled tattoo artist with someone else's work and ask them to be a copier. Ruins some of their fun.)

@badpenny@alaskan.social this was my first instinct as well (ask the tattoo artist directly), but I was afraid they would prefer clear instructions (as opposed to many back and forth of "no, not like that, more like this", etc). That part might be projection from me, I admit! Thanks for the feedback!
