@TrevfromIreland@mastodon.ie @mahryekuh@hachyderm.io you'd think the police could do more given that you cannot use them without a facebook account afaik so the perps should be really easy to track. There are also the instances where people are spying on secure facilities, casing out targets for foreign adversaries. There are so many highly dangerous and malicious uses of them. We're always slow to react to these things sadly.

@nf3xn@mastodon.social @mahryekuh@hachyderm.io To be honest I have never looked into what people need to have to make them work, and frankly have no desire to for fear of getting flooded with ad's asking if I want to buy them

@nf3xn@mastodon.social @TrevfromIreland@mastodon.ie It's been a long time since I expected such usefulness from the police. It's not entirely their fault either: police are naturally reactive; they need concrete proof that a crime has taken place. You also see it with stalkers (especially when they're stalking women): as long as they haven't killed their mark, the police cannot legally do anything about it. This is why the use of these glasses should be illegal (possibly legal in private spaces with explicit consent from all parties involved, but that's trickier.)
