@nf3xn@mastodon.social @TrevfromIreland@mastodon.ie It's been a long time since I expected such usefulness from the police. It's not entirely their fault either: police are naturally reactive; they need concrete proof that a crime has taken place. You also see it with stalkers (especially when they're stalking women): as long as they haven't killed their mark, the police cannot legally do anything about it. This is why the use of these glasses should be illegal (possibly legal in private spaces with explicit consent from all parties involved, but that's trickier.)

    @mahryekuh@hachyderm.io @nf3xn@mastodon.social I'm no fan of the Police but they can only work with the laws they are told to uphold, Politicians need to step up here and take action (in my opinion) but I have no faith in them to do it. However if it was them getting recorded with these devices we wouldn't hear the end of it, so why should ordinary citizens accept these things as being part of every day society.
