It’s a desperate attempt to force a consensus that *this* is the place to find meaning, *this* is where you’ll find friends.
And foundationally, a way to justify the unique privileges that institutions like churches retain and other, newer forms of embodied togetherness do not.

@adrianhon@mastodon.social Also: the collective Church needs to reject conservativism. There is no ideological compatibility between them and large parts of white American church culture are basically just a sock puppet for the Republican party.

@adrianhon@mastodon.social I think a major problem is that the newer forms of embodied togetherness don’t have a very good PR department.
