I’ve been off news and the Fediverse all day. My hot take is that Anthropic’s claim that they are holding back the next model because it is (air quotes) “too good” at finding vulnerabilities… could this just be a Musk-like stock pump to cover, say, a failure to deliver on results? (Hot take without reviewing what the community has already deciphered)

@bplein@bvp.me When I was a kid, there was a rumor that the hoverboards from Back to the Future II were real, but they were deemed too dangerous to sell. When Anthropic releases their new thing that's exactly the same as the old thing, AI sycophants will claim the amazing new functionality was removed for safety reasons. They'll all know an insider who used the real thing and told them how scary it was. To mix nostalgia metaphors, this is the friend of a friend whose uncle worked for Nintendo and got all the cool stuff that wasn't released here.
