Looking at the full picture of what's happening today, there is something deeper, messier, and uglier than even Trump that's working its way through the U.S. right now.
The type of force that can resegregate a society isn't something that can be exerted from the top down. It's something that requires many people laboring in the same direction with the same cultural biases at play.
Things are changing out there, and the relation between black and white culture is changing.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm not sure that the U.S. is just having a "gilded age". I also think that the U.S. is tearing itself back to an almost antebellum idea of race and racism. You can't divide the "gilded age" from the racial violence that defined the same era, and discussing the one without the other presents an inaccurate picture of what's happening. 10/20
