Anyways, he wrote how the nadir of American race relations was reached during that time period between (the failed attempt at) Reconstruction (1870s) and the Gilded/Progressive ages (1890s - early 1900s). During this era, Jim Crow laws were solidified, and obscene levels of violence, death, and hatred towards black people was a defining element of white culture in America. I can't do justice to Dr. Logan's writings on this time period, but I can point you to it. 8/20

    Looking at the full picture of what's happening today, there is something deeper, messier, and uglier than even Trump that's working its way through the U.S. right now. The type of force that can resegregate a society isn't something that can be exerted from the top down. It's something that requires many people laboring in the same direction with the same cultural biases at play. Things are changing out there, and the relation between black and white culture is changing. 9/20
