@eivind@fribygda.no The normalisation of the far right is part of the status-quo's - the Establishment's - response to climate-ecological breakdown. That's why the suppression of civil rights, for example in the UK and Germany, is focused mainly on climate protests. "These bourgeois morons are going to give us power" - Joseph Goebbels, 1932. This is a message that can't be repeated often enough: in Europe in the 1920s-30s the fascists - Hitler, Dollfuss, Mussolini, Franco - did not get into power by winning enough of the popular vote - they created political chaos in the context of economic breakdown, and 'the Establishment' (in the form of royalty, aristocracy, judiciary, business leaders, religious or military top brass) INVITED them to take power... The commentariat often point to 'the progressive majority' in most countries. Most people don't want fascism; but the real problem here is that the Establishment, the wealthy and privileged of the status-quo, would rather have brutal oppression than left/green change.
